What We Do / Worker Organizing

Worker Organizing

Organized workers in California, the world’s fifth largest economy, are a force for power far beyond the workplace, have unique leverage with the industries that employ them, and shape conditions like housing, health care, education, and climate change for millions of others. CCWP understands its unique and urgent responsibility at this juncture: To align California’s vibrant ecosystem of worker organizations in scaling the number and power of people organizing at work and in their communities to demand that government and business follow them down the path towards multiracial democracy.

We are increasing worker organizing through:

  Organizer exchanges

We bring organizers from across the state together, in person, to develop skills, learn organizing and basebuilding strategies and models, and practice together in a live campaign.

  Basebuilding campaigns

The base-building campaign creates a shared space where organizers can align on organizing best practices, shared worker leadership development, and drive a worker power agenda together.

  Organizing trainings

CCWP member organizations train each other on best practices, skills, and models. Since 2024, we’ve trained over 300 participants on topics including membership models, worksite delegations, and one-to-one conversations.

  Worker leadership development

CCWP member organizations collaborate around worker leadership development through political education and campaigns across 5 different languages.
