What We Do
Building Worker Power

California Coalition for Worker Power (CCWP) is a dynamic alliance of worker centers, labor unions, community organizations, and policy experts united to create a future where all working people in California can come together, building the power to create justice and equity in their workplaces and their broader communities. We see grassroots worker organizing, integrated with policy innovation, narrative change, and movement alignment as a key driver in fundamentally shifting the power dynamics of California’s economy and public policy.

Organizing
At the heart of the worker rights movement is the truth that all workers have a right to organize at their workplace. CCWP provides training to organizations to build their capacity to organize workers, and scale up their worker membership bases.
We believe that organizing workers is critical to build worker power because collective power is how workers govern in the workplace and society.
Narrative Shift
CCWP believes in creating a visionary alternative narrative which requires us to ask ourselves: what is our irresistible vision of the way the world ought to work?
Our goal is to articulate compelling narratives that do not just contradict or reinforce the harmful narratives, but that actually illustrate the world we are trying to build and the values that will guide us there.

Advocacy
We partner with organizations who center the voices of marginalized workers to advance policies that increase worker organizing.
Movement Building
CCWP strengthens our labor movement by bringing workers and organizations together to develop shared analysis, strategy, and solidarity.
Every year we unite over 100 leaders from all across the state through virtual training and political education, campaign meetings, convenings, and in-person advocacy and leadership development gatherings.
