California Coalition for Worker Power Applauds Pro-Worker Legislative Budget Proposal

Sacramento, CA – The California Coalition for Worker Power (CCWP) applauded the Legislature’s inclusion of funding for the California Workplace Outreach Program and UC Labor Centers in its joint budget proposal. The following is a statement from Alexandra Suh, Co-President of CCWP:

“The California Coalition for Worker Power applauds the Legislature’s commitment to educating, empowering, and protecting workers. California has a vibrant economy, yet millions of workers continue to be exploited and excluded from the wealth they help create.

“Educating workers about their rights, as the California Workplace Outreach Program does, successfully reaching over 6 million workers in their own languages through trusted community organizations, is a critical priority, and we are deeply grateful that the Legislature has proposed to continue funding this vital program.

“Likewise, UC Labor Centers make an irreplaceable contribution to California’s commitment to workers’ rights, and we are pleased to see that the Legislature understands and intends to fund their invaluable work.”
